Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla Vulgaris) is said to assist with the regeneration of vaginal and cervical mucous membranes in conditions of increased vaginal discharge, excessive menstrual bleeding, damage of the mucous membranes caused by bacteria or viruses and changes in conditions of vaginal dryness of different origin such as the menopause or hormonal imbalance. Alchemilla contains Phytoprogesterone, plant compounds that mimic Progesterone. A welcome side effect is strengthening of the connective tissue due to its astringent properties. Common Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) also known as the eyebrow of Venus.

can help bring on a delayed period, help with cramps and can stop heavy bleeding, especially if a tincture is taken hourly if ‘flooding’ during menopause. Yarrow is said to help with high blood pressure and assist the liver to excrete excess oestrogen.

Please note that there is a higher than average likelihood of allergy to Yarrow as it is a member of the Compositae family. Symptoms such as itching or sneezing when using Yarrow are the sign that this is not the herb for you.

Silverweed (Potentilla anserina), another member of the rose family (Rosaceae) and herb of Venus, has long been known for its anti-cramping properties.
